1875 – 1878
Priory Lawn Tennis Club and Edgbaston Cricket and Lawn Tennis Club are founded.
1884
Maud Watson from Solihull wins the first ladies’ Wimbledon title. The original rose bowl she won is now awarded to the winner of the Birmingham Open tournament.
1934
Squash courts are added to the Priory Club.
1963
A fire destroys the Priory Clubhouse. The Edgbaston Priory Club is established merging the two clubs.
1969
Edgbaston Priory Club showcased world class talent with a British Squash Championship final of record length was seen at the club between Jonah Barrington and Geoff Hunt. Barrington secured the title with a marathon match of two hours and 13 minutes.
1982-1992
The first Edgbaston Cup (later known as the Birmingham Open) is hosted at the club with the winner lifting the Maud Watson Trophy. The indoor pool and gym are opened.
2013-2030
Major club redevelopment in 2013 with a new clubhouse and Indoor Tennis Centre. Moving into the next decade, further development of clubhouse and grounds to enhance our facilities by 2030.
